Our beneficiaries are vulnerable and need incredibly compassionate, patient and professional support. Gaining experience by supporting our experienced social workers would be invaluable. The rehabilitative programme needs to be inspiring and motivate the beneficiary to want to develop a better life. If you are studying psychology, social work or health, we would love to hear from you. We can’t let you ‘loose’ with our beneficiaries, but we can give you incredible supportive roles that will help us in our core work. And while you are helping you will gain invaluable experience with amazing people who need your help. This opportunity opens doors to VolunTrainees who believe in healing people through holistic and supportive means, understanding the situation, having a keen eye on the administration processes and following up with practical and meaningful support. Helping people get active is so important in improving their self-esteem and confidence. There must be VolunTrainees out there who believe in the ‘healthy body, healthy mind’ approach.
The future is sure to get more competitive. However, for those who can see business opportunities as Blue Ocean Opportunities, it becomes seriously exciting. Our beneficiaries manage urban vegetable gardens and we need innovative ways to get the veggies to our target market. We are also setting up a ‘maker’s space’ where beneficiaries will make creative recycled and upcycled products. If you love social enterprise, this one’s for you.
Like so many great programmes out there, we
need to build a strong community and then maintain effective communication with our community. If
this is your passion and you love the social-media platform, we would love to hear from you.
South Africa’s justice
system has been well tested, as it is burdened with both high-profile and petty crimes, the latter often
involving people living on the streets. For those with a humanitarian and legal mind you will find this
area fascinating, as the legal and diversion disciplines meet.
This requires two essential disciplines, one being re-establishing family networks and
building new opportunities with the community, which is an essential step in forming the circle of safety,
which people from all walks of life need in order to thrive. The second is getting Streetscapes’ funding
needs ‘out there’ for the community project’s sustainable growth. If you are driven by bringing people
together and being able to tell a good story to secure much-needed funds, then this one is for you.
To
give credibility to an incredible community project, Streetscapes needs VolunTrainees who are
meticulous and talented in the three key areas: research, tracking and evaluation. If you are one of those
people, we would love to hear from you.
The
Streetscapes Community Project started around the vegetable garden! It has grown from humble beginnings
and now boasts great harvests for sale to surrounding communities and restaurants. We need VolunTrainees
who can share their passion for organic urban and semi-rural farming and help us to deliver fresh, organic,
waterwise produce with minimal carbon footprint to our customers.
One-hour engagement sessions are run on a daily basis. They are opportunities of reflection and personal
growth focusing on developing practical competencies as well as behavioural attributes. This is a place where
IQ, EQ, SQ and PQ meet. Current focus areas to get involved in could be: literacy, arts and crafts, self-defence,
yoga and cooking, among others. The VolunTrainee decides what he/she wants to get involved in, or
introduce your own passion to the group. New ideas are always welcome.
Where are the VolunTrainees who can design an innovative greenhouse with recycled bottles or
make a wind turbine to give us power in the garden? We are looking for people who get excited by designing
innovative solutions to everyday challenges using material mainly found on city streets. This is such an exciting
place to be, as Streetscapes has vegetable gardens, street-cleaning projects and a halfway house that is a
semi-rural vegetable smallholding! Imagine the opportunities that lie ahead.
Every business needs that incredible disciplined
eye and approach to making sure that a trail of paper is filed, registered and easily recovered by future hands.
It’s not just the paper trail, it’s also the person who can play a vital supportive role to the CEO, the proposal-writing team, the assessments team and many others. With technology at our disposal we seek VolunTrainees
who love transforming chaos into order.
