Because it goes way beyond ‘just’ an internship. It’s structured, it’s got credibility, it’s fun, it’s
real and it will be a life experience. And the cherry on top is that your fee goes to the very project you choose to
VolunTrainee in. If you want to prepare yourself to be a global citizen and believe in growing better lives,
become a VolunTrainee at Streetscapes.
We have designed the fee around the number of months a VolunTrainee stays. The cost for one to two months
is a flat fee of $1 400. The longer you stay, the less it becomes. To learn more about what’s included in this cost,

We assist VolunTrainees in finding suitable accommodation. We vet potential accommodation with safety,
cleanliness, position and offerings in mind. However, the cost of the accommodation and food is paid by the
VolunTrainee.
Do you offer any scholarships or grants?
Although StreetUni doesn’t offer these, many universities do. Visit www.FundMyTravel.com.
Yes. VolunTrainees will receive a reference letter and a detailed report of roles and responsibilities, focus areas,
outcomes, highlights and the hours you spent in these areas. We make sure that you leave us with the
necessary paperwork with a recognised Khulisa Social Solutions letterhead.
Any time. We operate 365 days a year, 24/7, so you join us when it suits you. Things do quieten down a little
from mid-December to the first week of January, but we still need hands, as we work with people in need and in
urban vegetable gardens that need care.
We do everything possible to make your stay a safe one. Like any country or city around the world, there are
places to enjoy and others to avoid. From day one we tell you what to avoid. Our main projects are in the heart
of Cape Town, which was awarded the title of World Design Capital in 2014. We have selected accommodation
options with safety in mind and all our activities bear safety in mind too. We offer 24/7 emergency support to all
VolunTrainees.
It depends where you are coming from. It’s a simple process, as most visas are issued free of charge when you arrive
at the airport. StreetUni supports VolunTrainees with the necessary documentation, so contact us and let us help you.
Yes, and we can assist you with getting a SIM card on your arrival and connecting you to the world. Wi-Fi is
becoming increasingly available in public areas. The Internet speed is improving and, in most places, where
Streetscapes operates there is 3G – 4G.
This will differ from VolunTrainee to VolunTrainee. It will also depend on what kind of lifestyle you wish to live. If
you send us a few items or activities that you would like us to cost, we would be happy to give you an idea. Or
send us an example of a daily schedule and we will give you a budget.
